The Most Popular Legacy Lines
If we talk about legacy lines, Bollywood sure has a history of family lines who are continuing their work in the film industry. Generations after generations, these families have contributed to the world of Hindi cinema. I know, I know the first name that is coming to your head is the Kapoors, as they have been ruling the industry since 1926!

KAPOORS
Let’s focus on the Kapoors for now. The first debut in the industry was by Prithviraj Kapoor, followed by his sons; Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. They were one of the finest actors that Bollywood has had and people will never forget their contribution. Next, from the 60s till the mid-80s, it was the era of Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor, rocking the industry with their glam and flair. To add to their glory, there was Neetu Singh, Rishi Kapoor’s favourite co-actor, whom he later went on to marry. In the beginning of the 90s it was time for Raj Kapoor’s granddaughter, Karishma Kapoor, followed by her sister Kareena Kapoor. They were few of the leading actresses of Bollywood in this era, and soon they shared their platform with their little brother Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir made his debut in the year 2007 with Saawariya. He can rightly be called today’s chocolate boy in the film industry, ruling it with one after one great masterpiece! It has been 90 years since the Kapoors joined the business and they never left us disappointed. We hope to see many more such talents from this family in the future…

BACHCHANS
Next in line is the Bachchan family. This family line starts from Harivansh Rai Bachchan; a stellar poet of the early 20th Century. He is the father of the great, Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh joined the industry in the early 1970s and has been continuing his great work till today. He married actress Jaya Bhaduri (now known as Jaya Bachchan). The duo has worked in films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Ek Nazar and many more. Their son, Abhishek Bachchan, inherited their legacy and has also contributed quite a few works to the industry. Abhishek married the gorgeous actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She joined the industry in 1979 with her debut film Iruvar. She was one of the top-notch actresses of her era. Though it’s a small family line of only generations but it’s worth mentioning.

CHOPRAS
The Chopras are yet another powerful house in the Bollywood industry. Vilayati Raj Chopra was the father to two of greatest filmmakers; B.R Chopra and Yash Chopra. Both the brothers owned the leading production houses of the industry. B.R.Chopra founded the B.R. Films in mid-40s, which is currently being managed by his son Ravi Chopra. This production house produced films like Kanoon, Naya Daur, Dharmputra and many more. Yash Chopra produced and directed many movies for B.R. Films. Later he separated and opened his own production house; Yash Raj Films. YRF is currently the biggest and leading production house in the Hindi film industry. His elder son Aditya Chopra looks after the production house now and his younger son Uday Chopra is a renowned actor in the industry. Aditya Chopra is married to actress Rani Mukherjee, of the Mukherjee family.

MUKHERJEE-SAMARTH
The Mukherjee-Samarth Family! This Bengali-Marathi family legacy line goes all the way back to the 1900s. Shobana Samarth, a renowned actress, married Kumarsen Mukherjee, a famous director of the Mukherjee family when this family started. Their daughter Tanuja, turned out to be a blooming star in the film industry. She married Shomu Mukherjee, who was himself a director, writer and producer. Kajol, daughter of Tanuja, as we all know, has been a gift to the industry with her graceful acting skills. She married actor Ajay Devgan in the year 1999, and the couple has gone on to make a number of movies together. Ram Mukerji (writer, director, producer), cousin of Shomu Mukherjee, married Krishna Roy and is the proud father of the gorgeous and versatile, Rani Mukerji.

KHANS
The Khans, a name that everyone recognizes in B-town. Salim Khan started his career in 1960s as a story and script writer. He met Javed Akhtar and the duo started writing together thus giving us a few beautiful movies like Yaadon Ki Baraat , Deewar , Dostana , Sholay, Mr. India and many more. He married Helen, popular nautch dancer of her time, as his second wife. He had three sons with his first wife Salma Khan. The superstar Salman Khan or as he is best known as Bhai, is their eldest son. The other two sons Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan also contributed to the industry as actors. Arbaaz married the sizzling actress; Malaika Arora.
