Communal Riot In Jammu, state faces curfew and Internet ban.
There was an uproar in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly today over the violence in Jammu city, which witnessed alleged desecration of a place of worship. The Aap Shambhu temple In Janipura area was vandalised by a man identified as Yasir Alfaz from Shiva village in Doda district.
The suspect Yasir Alfaz was arrested and it was stated by the police that he was of unsound mind. It was reported that he reacted about the injury of the ISIS Chief Abu Bakr-al-Baghdadi in a US airstrike in Syria. It is said that a young man entered the temple and broke the protective glass in front of the idol, the “Shiva lingum” has also been broken and he had also allegedly misbehaved with women in the temple.
The Police station was flooded and attacked by the public, the protestants resorted to violence and set several vehicles and two police buses on fire, things went out of control. The Police took to lathicharge and tear smoke shells to get the situation out of control.
To make the matters worse the video is viral over the Internet and the whole nation is reacting to it which compels the government to immediately solve the issue. Mobile services have been uspended and there is a curfew in Jammu. In light of this situation BJP lawmaker Ravindr raina said, “”It is matter of serious concern…Some anti-social elements have carried out an anti-social act. Situation in Jammu bad. The government should make a statement”.
With the state having a history of communal incidents, the government is taking no chance this time around.
