Healing With Greens
Herbal plants are used for medical purpose not just in rural areas but also in urban areas. India is one of the biggest producers of medical herbs and is also called “the botanical garden of the world”. These plants can be grown in pots and put indoor or can be hung in the entrance or balcony if grown in baskets. These herbs give a beautiful appearance, fragrance and purifies the air besides having healing properties. Here are some of the most popular greens easy to grow:
- TULSI (BASIL)
In India this plant is considered to be very auspicious as each and every part of the plant is useful. The leaves are known to cure respiratory problems, headache, cough and cold etc. Chewing of Tulsi leaves can cure mouth ulcers. The leaves can be dried and used as flavoring agents. It is effective against fever also.
- ALOE VERA
It grows under the sun in well drained dry and moist soil. The gel from Aloe Vera is extremely useful to speed up the healing and reducing the risk of infections for wounds, cuts, burns and inflammations. Apart from its external usage, it is also beneficial internally in treatment of poor digestion and increasing immunity.
- ASHWAGANDHA (POISON GOOSEBERRY)
Ashwagandha is one of the most powerful medicinal plants. It is used as nutritive tonic which improves the immunity of the body. It helps to fortify the body considerably, strengthens tissues, muscles, bones and reinforces the muscular mass. It helps in reducing the feeling of tiredness. It also regulates the digestive system, combats diabetes, intestinal spasms, and protects the liver. Mint also known as Mentha is a widely used leaf. Fresh leaves of mint is always preferred than dry leaves of mint if storage is not a problem.
