LADY IRWIN COLLEGE (Delhi University) is the first Home Science College in India, established in 1932. The college building was designed by famous architect Sir Walter George and is classified and protected as heritage site. It pioneers women’s education by investing scientific emphasis on home and community life. It is indeed a matter of pride that the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, through correspondence with Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, blessed the college with the motto, “Vidya Hi Seva”. Students of Lady Irwin College call themselves, “IRWINITE”.

Hostel ‘A Home Away From Home’ can house 200 students coming from all parts of India and abroad. There are two buildings, one for undergraduate students and one for postgraduates and Ph.D. scholars. The whole hostel is Wi-Fi enabled and has modern facility with television. It provides a safe and comfortable environment.

FASHION SOCIETY- PROPHECY

“Success doesn’t come to you, you have to go and get it”- is the policy of “Prophecy”. Team Prophecy comprises of 12 young girls working together to scale glorious heights. Having won the maximum number of competitions, the D. U. Beat (online newspaper of Delhi University) has declared Team Prophecy as the best College Fashion Society among the colleges of the Delhi University.

RAJKUMARI AMRIT KAUR CHILD STUDY CENTER

It is commonly known as nursery school. It was established as a laboratory for Department of Human Development and Childhood Studies. With its specialized experience it also provides services to the children with special needs. It provides a stimulating environment to children. As the department teachers are specialized in this field they facilitate children with various learning techniques and facilities for their better development in various domains.

It is popularly known as SRC. It is not only the cultural hub to go and catch some delicious food at reasonable prices but the SRC canteen is also very famous. It amazing Chinese food.

It’s Bengali Market, but IRWINITES calls it BM. It is one of the famous markets near college. Natthu’s Sweets and Bengali Sweet Shop are two major spots in Bengali Market where IRWINITES mainly hangout.
