If you have been here, you’ll definitely appreciate their beauty, and if not, do make a visit here and witness these mind-blowing creations for yourself!
One of the most prestigious engineering institutions in India, IIT Delhi has a life unique in its own ‘dimension’, especially during any event or the annual fest Rendezvous. The following are the reasons why it adds an unique aura to the posh area of South Delhi.
-
Lecture Hall Complex (LHC)
Inaugurated by Honorable HRD minister Smt. Smriti Irani, the newly built Lecture Hall Complex has a total area of 47,474 meter squared (about 9 football fields) and at an estimated cost of 162.9 crores! Students study here of course, but it is also a famous hangout place to beat hot Delhi summers… but sleeping here is not allowed! In night, the dazzling lights of LHC add a beautiful contrast to the night sky.
2. Open Air Theater (OAT)
Open Air Theaters are not a new concept. But the one here in IIT is unique in its own way! With a massive audience capacity of 8000, OAT resembles no less than Sunburn during IITs annual fest Rendezvous. This stage has witnessed footsteps of renowned artists, singers and bands including Farhan Akhtar, Arijit Singh, Javed Ali, Mohit Chauhan,… and the list goes on.
3. Dogra Hall
This is the most famous building in the campus, rich with years of history! Its roof is an architectural masterpiece; a parabolic hyperboloid made with utmost perfection! It has a seating capacity for more than 800 audience members and uniquely designed interior to make sure appropriate view and sounding to each and every corner of the hall! This is the place where the awesome Townhall with Mark Zuckerberg and renowned UNDP Social Good Summit took place!
4. Multi Storey Building (MS)
One of the oldest buildings of the campus, MS truly signifies the height and glory of the institute. It is a unique combination of modern architecture, while preserving an ancient touch in its layout. From its roof, you can get a beautiful glimpse of the city with an eagle’s eye view of the Qutab Minar! But the reason of MS being a famous hang out spot is because of WindT.
5. Wind Tunnel (WindT)
Located just below MS, this is the best place in campus to hang out with your friends after lectures or at night. Designed in such an orientation with respect to sun that in day time, cool and refreshing breeze continuously blows through here, so the name ‘Wind Tunnel’ in short WindT! You can see variety of activities going on here, chatting, preparing projects, studying, watching movies/TV-shows/Anime… and the list goes on. If you feel board or sleepy, you can always visit the adjoining CCD to have refreshing coffee and enjoy Free AC!
