Gone are the days when Shimla and Manali was an exclusive holiday destination. For now, it is probably the most overrated holiday destinations. Be it summer, winter or monsoons, the hotels are always booked and are flocked in with people travelling on and about. And it’s not just one destination that is overrated, there about many different places as such which have become completely overrated due to their popularity and their population intake. But, this article may just help you in choosing an unexplored, beautiful holiday destination!

1. Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh.

Located at the heart of North-Eastern part of India, Ziro is a beautiful collection of green fields and mountains with a climate that is agreeable throughout the year. You don’t have to wait for the perfect climate to initiate, this place can be your holiday destination at any time of the year.

2. Champaner- Pavagadh, Gujarat.

Enlisted as an UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the historical beauty of this place will deeply mesmerize you. If legends are to be believed, Pavagadh is often believed to be a chunk of Himalayas that were dropped accidentally by Hanuman in Ramayan. This place is a refreshing change from the usual of Qutab Minar and others.

3. Hemis, Jammu & Kashmir.

Perhaps the least talked about place on the map of Jammu & Kashmir, Hemis is a beautiful place and home to snow leopards in India. The place is surrounded all around by snow-capped mountains. A visit to Hemis Gompa or Hemis National Park, is a definite fun and a treat to your eyes! May to June is the best time to visit Hemis.

4. Gokarna, Karnataka.

Gokarna is famous for its pure and un-polluted beaches around the world. Youngsters and hippies, not only from India, but from all around the world flock to this beautiful piece of land. This town is primarily a temple town, but often makes up for a relaxed holiday. Gokarna is beautiful all around the year, except for monsoons, where the beaches are flooding and unkempt. November to February is the best time to visit Gokarna.

5. Lonar, Maharashtra.

The place was basically hit by meteor about 52,000 years ago. It is actually a salt water lake formed in the basaltic rock. It hosts a range of temples too. Which work all too well to increase the beauty of it.
October to March is the best time to visit this place.
