Sachin Tendulkar’s Second Innings

Sachin Tendulkar is a name that is famous worldwide and has won millions of hearts in just a span of 24 years of his cricket career. He took the oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on June 4, 2012 and started his second innings after announcing retirement from his cricket career.

In spite of attending the Parliament only 13 days out of 235, Sachin has been actively involved in various Developmental schemes and other allocation of funds. The following are some of the instances of his work as a Member of Parliament.

1. Adoption of a Village

Sachin adopted Puttamraju Kandriga village (A.P.) under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and sanctioned about 2.75crores from his MP funds to transform it into a model village. The improvements are already being seen in terms of the concrete roads, better sanitation facilities & 24 hour power supply.

2. Allocation of funds during floods:

In 2014, the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar took an initiative & extended a helping hand to the people affected by the disastrous flood in J&K. He sanctioned Rs 25 Lakhs from his MPLADS funds & relief materials for the flood affected victims. Besides this, five tons of eatables and blankets, as well as 400 water filters were also sent to the affected region from the companies for which he is endorsing. He also allocated Rs 50 lakhs to the victims during the floods in Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh.

3. Development of schools:

Tendulkar donated Rs 50 lakhs to a school in Ahmednagar (Maharastra), to provide for the basic infrastructure and sanitation facilities. He also took the initiative of building toilets in remote parts of Mumbai & West Bengal. As per recent reports, Tendulkar has sanctioned about 98% of his Funds to various development schemes and remains as an example for the rest of the politicians around India.
