Many faces of the Orlando massacre – TMP News

On the fateful night of 12th June 2016, pulse, a gay night club in Orlando, Florida was attacked by a 29 year old assailant Omar Mateen. The attack is counted as the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunmen and the deadliest act of violence against LGBT people in U.S. history. When enquiry was done, witnesses told that he was a regular patron of the nightclub and even used gay dating websites. The attack is assumed to be linked with ISIL.

More than 50 people were killed in the attack and several other severely wounded. However no clear references have been made as of yet so as to decide what has been the actual reason of the attack but many opinions have come to light.

Some call it a Terrorism attack while some simply state it as a clash of cultures and some state it as an anti-gay bias attack. The massacre has stirred up debates in U.S. as well as in other countries. President Obama called it homegrown terrorism. Mateen has been a security guard in Fort Pierce. However analysis of his browsing history shows that he consumed jihadist propaganda online.

UK prime minister David Cameron took to twitter to express his condolences to the victims and stated that he was horrified by the reports of the attack. Queen Elizabeth ll and the whole royal family  also joined him and expressed their sorrow on the attack. The next to join them was French president Francois Hollande and afghanistan’s president Ashraf Ghani. Pakistan’s prime minister Nawab Sharif also expressed his thoughts and also clarified that the attack does not represent the will of vast majority of muslims. The Israeli prime minister also expressed his pain.
