Delhi is a place where people from different faiths coexist: Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism, Christianity, etc. People from different religion reside in Delhi and they respect each other’s religion. Which is why you can find many spiritual places in Delhi, and the most popular one’s are:
- Akshardham Temple
Akshardham temple is one of the finest and largest Hindu temple. It is situated in East Delhi and is one of the most visited tourist destinations of Delhi. It comprises of an intricately carved monument, highly technological exhibitions, an IMAX theatre, a musical fountain, a food court and gardens.
- Nizamuddin Dargah
The Dargah is a sacred place for Muslims and every month thousands of Muslims come here with their wishes and prayers. It is also a famous place for non-Muslims like Hindus and Christians alike.It is dedicated to one of the most famous Sufi saints Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya.
- Gurudwara Bangla Sahib
It is the most prominent and largest Gurudwara in Delhi. Millions visit this Gurudwara from all over the world and of all religions to offer their prayers. There is also a pond inside the Gurudwara which the Sikhs consider holy.
- The Central Baptist Church
The Central Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches in entire north India. It was built in 1814 and shows the influence of European architecture of that time on Indian art. It is located in the main Chandni Chowk road just opposite the Gurudwara Sisganj.
- Laxminarayan Mandir
The Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Popularly known as Birla Mandir was built by famous industrialist B. R. Birla from 1933 and 1939. This temple is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Laxmi and her consort Lord Vishnu (Narayan). It was inaugurated by none other than Mahatma Gandhi.
- ISKCON Temple
Sri Sri Radha Parthasarathi Mandir generally known as the ISKCON Delhi temple is a well-known Vaishnava Temple of Lord Krishna and Radha. It is famous for its aesthetic quality, festivals, music and food.
- Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid is the oldest, biggest and best known mosques in India. It is located in old Delhi. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. People from all over the world come here to visit this mosque. The main dome if the mosque is the second largest dome in the world.
- Lotus Temple
The Lotus Temple is located in south Delhi and is structured to resemble a white lotus. The Lotus temple has won numerous architectural awards and been featured in hundreds of newspapers and magazines for the same.
- Chhatarpur Temple
Chhatarpur temple is an architectural wonder and is the second largest temple in India after Akshardham Temple. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani (a form of Durga), a large statue of Goddess Katyayani attracts devotees from all over India. The architecture of this temple gives a feel of south- Indian style of architecture.
- Kalkaji Mandir
Kalkaji Mandir is one of the most famous Hindu Mandir situated in South Delhi near Kalkaji Mandir Metro Station. Kalkaji Mandir is one of the oldest temples in Delhi. It is dedicated to Hindu goddess Kali, an incarnation of Durga. Devotees attend the Kalkaji temple throughout the year, but the culmination point of their prayers and celebration comes during the festival of Navratri twice a year.
