BOLLYWOOD MOVIES SHOT IN DELHI UNIVERSITY – The Most Popular

Board results are out now and the admission season has begun. No doubt Delhi University will be a target of many of the students. Apart from having that feel of art, fashion, swag and attitude, DU also has a connection with bollywood. Time and again our movies have captured the charm and beauty of one of India’s top universities.

From the Haryanvi athlete ‘Kusum’ of Ramjas College (Kangana Ranaut’s character in Tanu Weds Manu Returns) to the sophisticated ‘Heer’ of St. Stephen’s College (Nargis Fakhri’s character in Rockstar), DU’s lifestyle has been fabulously depicted in many bollywood movies.

Here we bring to you a list of some of the bollywood films that have featured DU colleges:-

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, this romantic musical drama portrays Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Janardhan’ from Hindu College and Nargis Fakhri as ‘Heer’ from St. Stephen’s College. Be it the college canteen or the entrance gate or the corridors, you can clearly see the glimpses of these two colleges in the movie!

2. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Starring R.Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut, this film has been shot in Ramjas College where Kusum (Kangana) is a student with proper Haryanvi accent. With a few glimpses of Sri Ram College of Commerce as well, this movie is an entertaining blockbuster!

3. Band Baaja Baaraat

With Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma in lead roles, this blockbuster also has some scenes shot in DU. The song ‘Tarkeebein’ shows some glimpses of Hansraj College’s boys’ hostel and classrooms and it looks perfect on the big screen!

4. Fukrey

The entire movie being shot in Delhi, Fukrey is about four Delhi boys who come together to earn some easy money. Shot in Miranda House, this film is dipped in comedy and is a treat to watch!

5. Do Dooni Chaar

This light-hearted movie is about a middle class family of four who live in Delhi. With beautiful glimpses of corridors and classrooms, Kirori Mal College has a wonderful cameo in this movie. Not to forget that college fest scene of Rishi Kapoor’s daughter which was also shot here!

Did you notice those corridors of CBI headquarters in the movie? Yes! That long path was actually the heritage hall of Miranda House which was smartly shot as the CBI headquarters in the film!

Abhay Deol and Mahi Gill starrer, this movie is a romantic black comedy drama. Director Anurag Kashyap has amazingly captured the views of Hansraj College and it’s surrounding campus.

This romantic youth movie was shot in the beautiful campus of St. Stephen’s College. Both the leads Kartik Tiwari and Nushrat Bharucha are college hostellers and their romance has been shown everywhere from college library to the hostels.

Based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Half Girlfriend’, this is a promising upcoming release. With Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles, this romantic drama has been recently shot in St. Stephen’s College during the summer break. Both the main leads will be seen playing basketball in the film.
